Earrings inspired by carriage jackets.

Background

Ecliptic draws inspiration from the quiet elegance of early 1900s evening and carriage jackets, garments designed to transition seamlessly from day to night.

Reimagined through contemporary jewelry, this collection explores duality and transformation: refined studs for daily wear that evolve into evening statements through detachable “jackets.” Ecliptic embodies the rhythm of light, balancing utility and ornament.

Form Exploration

These initial sketches were an exploration of the balance between the daytime studs and the accompanying jacket earrings. I wanted to explore what defines “day” versus “night” in jewelry. Is it length, weight, or color? How do these factors affect both aesthetic and wearability? The balance I found showed itself by through slightly more weight and presence to the “night” earring, creating a piece that transitions seamlessly while remaining comfortable and functional.
